Academy-awards-winning Myanmar film ‘Kan Kaung’ set to premiere in Bangkok

‘Kan Kaung’, a Myanmar film that won three Academy Awards in 2023, will premiere in 35 cinemas across Bangkok starting on 11 July, announced Win Lwin Htet, the film’s director.
Based on a novel by Kyal Su Thit, the film was scripted by Ni Moe Lwin and directed by Win Lwin Htet. It stars Paing Takhon, Academy Thu Htoo San, and Academy Khin Zarchi Kyaw.
“Thai and Myanmar audiences in Thailand can enjoy the film at Major Cineplex in Bangkok from 11 July. Actor Paing Takhon interviewed with Thai media and hosted a fan meeting for his Thai fans on 8 July,” Win Lwin Htet added.
The film not only portrays the peaceful coexistence between humans and animals but also showcases Myanmar’s cultural beauty and natural landscapes exceptionally. It will be screened not only in Thailand but also in Cambodia.
At the 2023 Myanmar Film Excellence Award Ceremony, ‘Kan Kaung’ received awards for the best film, best cinematography, and best movie music. — ASH/TKO
