ACC Chairman-led delegation attends 19th Principals Meeting of ASEAN Parties Against Corruption

Myanmar delegation led by Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman U Sit Aye attended the first day of the 19th Principals Meeting of ASEAN Parties Against Corruption (ASEAN-PAC) held in Laos on 29 November.
At the meeting, Chairman of the Laos State Inspection Authority (SIA) Mr Khamphanh Phommathath, served as patron and approved the meeting minutes of the 18th ASEAN PAC meeting.
Then, the former chair country, Cambodia, discussed their one-year activity. Other member countries clarified the cooperation to implement the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and fight against corruption, and the UNODC regional representative coordinated the discussion.
The ACC Chairman talked about the public awareness campaigns on anti-corruption, measures to raise public participation, holding of workshops on integrity enhancement in government and private sectors, international cooperation, promotion of youth participation in anti-corruption operations through the integrity talk shows and edutainment programmes, release of integrity and ethic reference journals, formation of Corruption Prevention Unit (CPU) with the cooperation of region/state governments, Public Feedback Programme (PFP), investigation to receive back State budget, drafting of informant protection law and international cooperation works.
The ACC of Myanmar and SIA of Laos signed an MoU on anti-corruption on the same morning. Similarly, the Chairman of ACC met Chairman of SIA Laos and Deputy Secretary-General Mr Prateep Juthasron of Thailand’s National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). Then, the Myanmar delegates attended the dinner hosted by the SIA Chairman of Laos.
The second-day meeting continued on 30 November, and the event discussed the ASEAN-PAC E-Booklet and proposed title for the 2024 ASEAN-PAC workshop.
Then, the KPK of Indonesia that received the 2024 Chairmanship discussed the successful holding of the meeting and approved the lists of officials to ASEAN-PAC. — MNA/KTZH
