CBM Governor attends Bank of China Scholarship Award Ceremony, meets TBAM delegation

The Bank of China Scholarship Award Ceremony was organized by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Yangon Branch and China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA) at Lotte Hotel in Yangon yesterday.
During the event, Central Bank of Myanmar Governor Daw Than Than Swe, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Chen Hai, the Commerce Attaché, officials from the Ministry of Education, Yangon University and Bank of China (Hong Kong) Yangon Branch.
First, the CBM governor expressed thanks to the Bank of China for support in the education, social and economic sectors in addition to the banking sector of the country. She also said such cooperation between the two governments is an effective support to ensure Myanmar’s long-time friendship with China and will create a win-win situation.
She then concluded the event after the awarding procedures.
At noon, the CBM governor received a delegation led by President Mr Nuttaphong Visitkitchan of the Thai Business Association of Myanmar (TBAM) at the CBM office (Yangon) and discussed investment of Thais in Myanmar and the use of Thai Baht and Myanmar Kyat for border trade.
The payment officer of the Bank of Thailand, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and the joint secretary of the Central Committee on Ensuring Smooth Flow of Trade and Goods joined the meeting online. — MNA/KTZH
