The Myanmar Coffee Association anticipates exporting approximately 2,000 tonnes of coffee this year. Last year, between 1,000 and 1,500 tonnes of coffee were exported to China and Thailand through the border trade, with an
additional 500 to 800 tonnes exported to European countries and other Asian nations, such as Japan and Korea.
It is noted that Myanmar has around 50,000 acres of coffee plantations consisting of 38,000 acres of Arabica coffee and 12,000 acres of Robusta.
Coffee cultivation is primarily concentrated in the Shan State, Chin State, and the PyinOoLwin area of the Mandalay Region. Annually, the country produces over 9,000 tonnes of coffee, with Arabica being the predominant variety exported. — TWA/TRKM
