Myanmar exported over 5,335 metric tonnes of shrimps worth US$20.927 million to global markets in the H1 of the current financial year 2023-2024 beginning 1 April, according to the Department of Fisheries.

Myanmar’s fishery export has returned to normalcy. Yet the export volume still declines compared to that in the pre-coronavirus period.

Myanmar exports shrimp to over 40 foreign countries including China, Thailand, Bangladesh and Japan, mostly to Thailand, followed by China. — NN/EM
