Myanmar, Thailand collaborate to eradicate online gambling, scams at border

Myanmar and Thailand decided to cooperate with each other in eradicating online gambling and online scams near Myawady of the Myanmar-Thai border area depending on the investigation, according to the discussion between Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and General Songwit Noonpackdee.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing held talks with Chief of Defence Forces General Songwit Noonpackdee of the Royal Thai Armed Forces via videoconferencing yesterday afternoon.
At the talks, they discussed bilateral cooperation in drug eradication and counter-terrorism, eradication of illegal trade, exchange of information, and efforts for ensuring peace and stability in border areas of both countries.
Both sides cordially exchanged views on a plan for further enhancement of relations and friendly ties as well as cooperation between the two countries and the two armed forces. They also emphasized cooperation in the secure and smooth process of border trade between the two countries on political trends and the armed forces on security trends. Not only the two armed forces of both countries but also the ministries of those countries will beef up bilateral cooperation in humanitarian and assistance measures.
They also discussed jointly the prevention of forest fire and transboundary haze pollution at the Myanmar-Laos-Thai border areas and cooperation between the governments of both countries and two armed forces on a broader scale.
Also present at the talks were Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and officials. Air Chief Marshal Chakorn Tawanjang and officials also accompanied the Chief of Defence Forces of the Royal Thai Armed Forces. — MNA/TTA
