Short-term quality rice crops to use for growing double to triple cropping a year

In meeting with farmers in Gyogone Village of Shwedaung Township on 10 March, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Tin Htut said that it is necessary to use quality short-term quality paddy varieties to arrange double and triple cropping patterns on a yearly basis and urged farmers to make progress from seed production agents to seed manufacturers.
After that, the deputy minister and officials viewed round the plantation of the seed division under Thegon Township Department of Agriculture, and discussed needs of orderly management to be able to increase the pure seed production business in financial years in cooperation with local farmers.
Likewise, the deputy minister inspected the research and development activities of the paddy branch of Regional Research Center (Letpadan) under Department of Agricultural Research.
In the evening, the Deputy Minister and officials observed the ongoing operations in financial years and future plans of the Myanmar Rice Research Institute, Department of Agriculture in Hmawby, Yangon Region and attended to the requirements. — MNA/CT
