Thet Htar Thuzar quits Paris Olympics after narrow loss

Myanmar badminton star Thet Htar Thuzar has left the 2024 Olympic Badminton Tournament after suffering a shock loss to a Canadian player by only two points.
The 25-year-old Thet Htar Thuzar, ranking 43rd in the world, was able to play with the same ability against 32-year-old Canadian player Michelle Li, ranking 32nd in the world. However, she lost by 21-16 and 25-23 points during the Group C match of the 2024 Paris Olympic Women’s Single Badminton Event.
After the loss, Thet Htar Thuzar expressed her feelings on her social media.
“My 2024 Olympic was ended yesterday after losing my second group match by 21-16 and 25-23. It was a tough match, but I did try my best and gave all that I had. The atmosphere was amazing, and I am really grateful to have had this superb experience. Thank you to everyone who came to encourage me in person and online. I do really appreciate each one of your support,” Thet Htar Thuzar stated.
Thet Htar Thuzar also competed against world-class 6th Japanese player Yamaguchi on 26 July and suffered a significant loss: 21-12 and 21-10. — Htun Htun/KZL
