The trekking and walking season at Mount Taung Wine, a famous tourist destination in Mawlamyine, Mon state, commenced on 2 December, according to the Sasana Nwe Foundation.
For those who want to enjoy viewing a sea of clouds while paying homage to the pagoda on Mount Taung Wine, three consecutive months – December, January and February- are designated as the season for trekking and walking.
To ensure the safety of the hikers, 4:00 to 8:00 am on every Saturday and Sunday during these three months will be open for trekking, according to that foundation.
During that period, no cars or motorbikes will be allowed on the path, except for the responsible personnel and the vehicles of the monastery on the mountain.
In addition, for the convenience of trekkers and pilgrims, free parking for motorbikes and cars will be provided at the entrance of the ascent route from 4:30 to 8:00 am.
Visitors to Mount Taung Wine are advised by the Sasana Nwe Foundation not to smoke while walking, to dispose of rubbish properly in bins, for the vendors not to sell on the concrete road, and not to sell alcohol, beer and food with strong cooking smells. – Thit Taw/ ZN
