Twin City Media Forum is of importance for friendly relations between Myanmar and China, combating fake news and misinformation as well as for enhancement of tourism industry, said Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn in receiving Executive Chief Editor Mr Zhang Ruogu and party from Yunnan International Communication Centre for South Asia and Southeast Asia.
The Union minister together with Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung delivered a speech at the meeting to successfully hold the 2023 China-Myanmar Twin City Media Forum at the Mandalay Regional Government office in Mandalay yesterday.
The Union minister explained that as Kunming and Mandalay are twin cities as well as sister cities, Mandalay was chosen to host the opening ceremony of the forum, adding the Myanmar-China Twin City Media Forum has been held in Kunming and Mangshi of the People’s Republic of China three times, and the forthcoming forum will take place in Myanmar for the first time.
He recounted that he held a preliminary meeting with the Executive Chief Editor and party on 25 September to host the forum in Myanmar.

The meeting was also attended by officials from the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, the Mandalay Region government, the Chinese consul, the China-Myanmar Friendship Association and Chinese religious organizations.
The opening of the forum will take place at Yadanabon Hall in Mandalay in the fourth week of November and the forum in Nay Pyi Taw.

Yadanabon Hall was built on a six-acre land at the corner of 78th and 38th streets in Mandalay on 30 November 2020. The hall was commissioned into service by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on 17 May 2021.
