A total of 171 Myanmar migrant workers: 125 males and 46 females, who were charged and stranded in Thailand for various reasons, arrived in Kawthoung on 8 September via Ranong, Thailand by boat.
It is reported that they were handed over to responsible organizations. Myanmar migrant workers were stuck in Thailand for various reasons during the COVID-19 outbreak and were prosecuted.
Kawthoung district and township administrative officials, health staff, departmental personnel and NGOs are examining the COVID-19 infection. Non-Myanmar nationals were also screened for the virus and provided with food, health and necessary assistance.
Those who had been vaccinated twice received the third dose while those who had never been inoculated and vaccinated once were tested for infection. They undergo surveillance for three days with men and women being separated at three quarantine centres in Kawthoung. Then, they can return to their home unless they are infected. — TWA/GNLM
