2022 Asian Women’s Cup Qualifiers postponed to October

Group D matches for the 2022 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers in which Myanmar national women’s team participation have been postponed to October 2021, according to the Asian Football Confederation.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is originally scheduled to host the qualifiers in Lebanon from 13 to 25 September, but officials set new schedules and venues amidst COVID-19 pandemic.
Asian Football Confederation also stated that Lebanon will not be able to host the women’s football event due to domestic political tensions.
The AFC has decided to hold the event in Kyrgyzstan from 18 to 24 October, as other countries in the group could not host it.
Myanmar is falling in the Group D with Lebanon, UAE and Guam. According to the new fixtures, Myanmar will play against Lebanon on 18 October, Guam on 21 October and UAE on 24 October respectively.
The Myanmar team will have more time to prepare for the group stage matches and will have more than a month to prepare.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has postponed the Group D matches due to host country change. Other seven group matches will be held as scheduled from 16 to 29 September.
The tournament will be divided into eight groups and only the top team in each group will win the tournament.
According to the group vote, Group A includes China Taipei, Bahrain and Laos, while Group B consists of Vietnam, Tajikistan, Maldives and Afghanistan. In the meantime, Singapore is placing in the Group C together with Iraq and Indonesia while Myanmar is in the Group D with UAE, host Lebanon and Guam.
Next, South Korea, Uzbekistan and Mongolia are placed in the Group E and Group F consists of the Philippines, Hong Kong and Nepal. Group G consists of Jordan, Iran and Bangladesh while ASEAN powerhouse team Thailand is included in Group H with Palestine and Malaysia. —Ko Nyi Lay/ GNLM
