2024 ISR Volleyball Tournament commences

SAC members and dignitaries greet the athletes at the opening of the 2024 Inter-State/Region Volleyball Tourney yesterday.

Members of the State Administration Council, together with the Chairman of the Union Election Commission and union ministers, attended the ceremony to open the 2024 Inter-State/Region Volleyball Tournament at Wunna Theikdi Gymnasium C in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
On the occasion, Myanmar Olympic Committee Chairman Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan delivered a speech, saying that the tournament aims to create a new generation of athletes to improve the standard of volleyball sports.
He urged all athletes to have sports talent and contribute to the improvement of qualification of their partner athletes. All athletes have to play the tournament with fairness based on esprit de corps, he noted.
Moreover, the Union minister stressed the need for referees and umpires to handle the matches in accord with the rules of competition and disciplines. He urged all athletes to try hard to be able to bring prestige to the State.
The Union minister launched the competition and cordially greeted athletes from relevant teams and officials.
THE SAC members and spectators watched the competition between the Nay Pyi Taw team and the Yangon Region team.
The 2024 ISR Volleyball Tournament will take place from 7 to 16 May, with the participation of 399 athletes from 13 men’s and 12 women’s teams. — MNA/TTA
