38 shrimp farmers in Taninthayi Region apply for licences on 8,000+ acres

According to the Fisheries Department, 38 farmers in the Taninthayi Region have applied for permits to expand their saltwater shrimp farming operations on over 8,000 acres with the intention of exporting.
Currently, five entrepreneurs are implementing saltwater shrimp farming operations spanning over 1,800 acres, thereby increasing the total area of saltwater shrimp farming to approximately 10,051 acres.
The white shrimp (Vannamei) produced by saltwater shrimp farms in Taninthayi Region are mainly exported abroad.
Grand Adman Co Ltd operates 18 shrimp breeding ponds in Kawthoung Township, 105 ponds by Pyae Phyo Tun Company, 53 ponds by Khine Zin Yaw Company in Kyunsu Township, 25 ponds by Shwe Kan Maw Company in Pulaw Township, and eight ponds by Best Myanmar Co Ltd in Yephyu Township.
