39th Meeting of High-level Task Force on ASEAN Economic Integration held via videoconferencing

MIFER Deputy Minister U Than Aung Kyaw joins the 39th Meeting of High-level Task Force on ASEAN Economic Integration online yesterday.

Deputy Minister for Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations U Than Aung Kyaw joined the thirty-ninth meeting of High – Level Task Force on ASEAN Economic Integration (39th HLTF-EI) which was held via videoconference on 22 February 2021.

During the meeting, HLTF-EI Leaders discussed Priority Economic Deliverables for Brunei Darussalam’s ASEAN Chairmanship, Implementation of the ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework(ACRF) , Mid-Term Review of the AEC Blueprint 2025, Development of ASEAN Post -2025 Vision, the Fourth Industrial Revolution(4IR) framework, ASEAN’s Strategic Economic Engagement with External Parties , Terms of Reference of the HLTF-EI and HLTF-EI Recommendations to the 27th ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Retreat which will be held on 2 March 2021.

Deputy Minister informed the meeting that Myanmar will continue to maintain friendly relations with countries of the world, particularly with neighbouring countries on the basis of mutual respect and understanding. He also said that Myanmar will continue to actively participate in the regional and multilateral fora, including the United Nations, ASEAN, BIMSTEC and Mekong-related organizations. He highlighted that the Government’s commitment to honouring the existing bilateral and multilateral agreements in line with the national interest of Myanmar and international obligations.

The meeting was chaired by Mr Gabriel Lim, Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Trade and Industry, Singapore. Deputy Ministers and Permanent Secretaries who are HLTF-EI Leaders from ASEAN Member States, Deputy Secretary General from ASEAN Secretariat and representatives took part in the meeting. —MNA
