40 hotels, guesthouses opened in Sagaing Region

Sagaing Region Tourism Committee has greenlighted 58 hotels, motels and guesthouses and 40 of them are open for the guests in strict compliance to the health protocols, according to the regional tourism committee.
“The committee has granted licences to 58 hotels, motels and guesthouses. At present, 40 are open for the guests in Sagaing, Monywa, Shwebo, Kalay, Katha, Homalin and Hkamti cities,” said U Aung Thu Oo, head of Sagaing Region Directorate of Hotels and Tourism.
Of 58 hotels and guesthouses, 51 are permitted to reopen after an inspection team led by the Ministry of Health and hotel organizations inspected the hotels whether they are keeping in line with the guidelines for COVID-19 or not.
“The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism issue a regional-level certificate for the hotels and guesthouses as they are found to be in line with health protocols,” said U Aung Thu Oo.
About 50,790 domestic travellers visited Bodhi Tahtaung Pagoda and other famous pagodas in Monywa, Sagaing Region during the Thadingyut Festival, as per data of the department.
Between January and September 2021, a total of 31,896 visitors entered the region for various purposes. — Lu Lay/GNLM
