56th meeting of ASEAN NTOs and Related Meetings held online

Laos hosted the 56th meeting of the ASEAN National Tourism Organizations (NTOs) via videoconferencing yesterday.
The meeting was co-chaired by Indonesia and Laos. The Leader of the Tourism Authority of Director-General U Maung Maung Kyaw of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism under the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism joined the event together with the representatives from the ASEAN NTOs, the ASEAN Secretariat, the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), the ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC), the ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC), ASEAN Travel Association, ASEAN Travel Research Association, US-ASEAN Business Council, World Tourism Organization, World Travel and Tourism Council, Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and other relevant organizations.
The meeting discussed the implementations of the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan (2016-2025) of respective countries including Myanmar, ASEAN Tourism Marketing Strategy (2021-2025), Mutual Recognition Arrangement for ASEAN Tourism Professionals (MRA-TP) Work Plan 2019-2023, processes of tourism recovery plans in the post-COVID-19 period, regional tourism development activities of ACC, AJC and AKC and other matters.
The related meetings of the 56th meeting of the ASEAN NTOs such as the 41st Meeting of ASEAN + China, Japan, Korea Tourism Ministers and the 28th Meeting of ASEAN-India Tourism Ministers will be organized on 6 July.
They will discuss human resource development in ASEAN regions, information exchange, tourism promotion, communication, a recovery plan for ASEAN tourism and cooperation works with partner countries in reopening safe and quality tourism. — MNA
