57 killed in 169 car accidents on Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in 2022

Altogether 169 traffic accidents occurred on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in 2022 leaving 57 people dead, according to the Nay Pyi Taw Expressway Traffic Police Force.
There were 280 injuries, and 159 opened criminal cases in 169 traffic accidents from 1 January to 31 December 2022, according to the police data.
Fifty-seven – 51 males and six females were killed with 280 – 175 males and 105 females – being wounded in all accidents.
In addition, there were 84 casualties and 394 injuries in 240 accidents in 2021, and 84 were killed and 446 wounded in 412 accidents in 2020, respectively. — TWA/MKKS
