5th batch of Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund 2022 Projects launched

The launching ceremony of the fifth batch of Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund Projects was held in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Gyi said the chance to implement the projects under LMC Special Fund can promote the socioeconomic and living status of Myanmar’s rural people. It will also implement the 31 projects initiated by Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund to meet the targets in respective fields.
After the remarks of Vice-Chair of LMC Special Fund Body U Win Zeyar Tun and Chinese Minister Counsellor Dr Zheng Zhihong, the relevant directors-general explained the progress of projects initiated by LMC Special Fund 2018, 2020 and 2021.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation was allowed to implement 31 projects with more than US$10 million. The ministry developed five projects under LMC Special Fund 2017, nine projects under LMC Special Fund 2018, six projects under LMC Special Fund 2020 and four under LMC Special Fund 2021.
Currently, the ministry will carry out seven projects under LMC Special Fund 2022 — rubber pressing, production of quality sugarcane, improvement of sesame seed production, various quality freshwater fish farming, establishment of crop yield forecasting department, pesticide residue testing laboratory and study on crop loss risk. Therefore, these projects will support promoting socioeconomic status and reducing poverty of rural people who rely on agriculture partially for their living. —MNA/KTZH
