6 killed in 19 car accidents on Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in October

Altogether 19 traffic accidents occurred on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in October, leaving six people dead and 48 others injured, according to the Nay Pyi Taw Expressway Traffic Police Force.
There were 51 deaths and 232 injuries in 142 traffic accidents from January to October 2022, according to the data from the police.
Losses due to the accidents were K11.5 million in nine accidents in January, K32.98 million in 20 accidents in February, K18.5 million in 15 accidents in March, K86.58 million in 13 accidents in April, K28,779,000 in 15 accidents in May, K14.86 million in 12 accidents in June, K22.75 million in 15 accidents in July, K21,165,000 in 13 accidents in August, K11,215,000 in 11 accidents in September and K35,005,000 in 19 accidents in October, respectively.
The highway police force stated that the causes behind highway traffic accidents were mostly due to the negligence of drivers. — TWA/GNLM
