72nd Buddha Pujaniya Festival to be held at Thiri Mingala Kaba Aye Pagoda

The 72nd Buddha Pujaniya Festival of the Thiri Mingala Kaba Aye Pagoda in Mayangon Township, Yangon Region will be held from 21 to 25 February, according to the pagoda board of trustees.
This is the first time Buddha Pujaniya festival of the pagoda is held since 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, leading to the suspension of the festival.
“The festival couldn’t be held for three years due to outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. It had been suspended since 2020. This year, the 72nd Buddha Pujaniya Festival of the Thiri Mingala Kaba Aye Pagoda will be held again for five days. The consecration ceremony of the pagoda, recitation of Pathana treatise, offering alms and Htamane (Glutinous Rice Festival) will be included,” said U Aung Htut, a member of Trustees Board of Kaba Aye Pagoda.
During the festival, Htamane making festival will take place on 22 and 23 February. On 24 February, alms will be offered, and on 25 February, 45 members of the Sangha will consecrate the pagoda whereas the well-wishers will donate alms to 48 members of the Sangha. — ASH/TKO
