80 prisoners released from Mandalay Central Prison

The State Administration Council yesterday announced amnesty order No. (186/2021) that 1,316 prisoners were released from various prisons across the country and thus 80 prisoners were also released from Mandalay Central Prison.
Therefore, Mandalay Region Minister for Security and Border Affairs Colonel Kyaw Kyaw Min addressed the amnesty prisoners for implementing Section 401 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, under sub-section (1) of the amnesty program in Mandalay Central Prison yesterday.
Prison officials then provided healthcare services to the amnesty prisoners.
Next, the prisoners were released from the prison after receiving their travel expenses.
“There are a total of 80 prisoners in Mandalay Central Prison. There were 77 men and three women. Today, prisoners are being released on parole at Mandalay Central Prison, as well as in prisons in other regions. I’m pleased to hear the good news”, said U Cho Win Tun, head of the Region Prison Department.
“I was sentenced to three years in prison. I spent four months and two days in prison. I am happy to be reunited with my family after my release. I don’t even think so; I feel like I’m dreaming. I also thank the government for releasing me,” said Daw Kyi Kyi Khine, who was released on amnesty.
A total of 171 prisoners, including 162 men and nine women, were released from various prisons in Mandalay Region. — Min Htet Aung (Mandalay Sub-Printing House)/GNLM
