The 95th robe weaving ceremony of historic Sandawshin Kangyi Pagoda was held yesterday morning in Mudon, Mawlamyine District, Mon State.
The ceremony was contributed by Yupar Mon Family led by U Kyaw Kyaw Oo and wife Daw Kyi Kyi Htay.
The well-wishers will also donate four weaving looms worth K2.5 million for the weaving ceremony, the pagoda board of trustees said.
Robes will be offered to Kangyi Pagoda, Kangalay Pagoda, Thabaung Oo Pagoda, Kyaikkamowlay hilly Pagoda, Sutaung Pyae Pagoda and Binhlaing Pagoda in the township, local people said.
In the past, the robe weaving competition was celebrated in front of the Sutaung Pyae Pagoda in Mudon on the night of the 14th waxing day of Tazaungmon.
According to the Kangyi Pagoda Board of Trustees, the pagoda will be open daily from 5 am to 8 pm in line with the COVID-19 preventive measures. — Aung Myo Thu (IPRD)/GNLM
