Three sentenced to prison under Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law in Yangon

According to the Myanmar Police Force, three people who forced a woman into prostitution were sentenced in prison with labour in Yangon Region.
Ma Tin Lin Khaing (a) Ma Mi Pont, a resident of Hlinethaya Township in Yangon Region, and Ko Kyaw Wunna who lives in Mayangon Township, and Ma May Thu Lin who lives in Hlinethaya Township, persuaded the victim aged 20 to work as a cook in Bago and Pakokku. They then forced her into prostitution and took the profit.
A case was filed against them under Section 24/32 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law at the Hlinethaya Myoma Police Station, and the North District Court sentenced Ma Mi Pont, who is under 18, to three years in prison without labour under Section 88 (c) of the Child Rights Law on 14 December, and other two were sentenced to 10 years each in prison with labour under Section 24 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law. — MNA
