Illegal foodstuffs, goods, timbers seized

The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee takes strict action against illegal trade under the law.
The combined team led by the Customs Department seized an estimated K13,363,000 worth of Thai-made undocumented foodstuffs and commodities at the Mayanchaung checkpoint on 22 and 23 January and took actions under the Customs Law.
Similarly, officials confiscated China-made foodstuffs (estimated at K10,141,000) at the 16th-Mile Kyaukchaw checkpoint of Mandalay Region on 23 January. They took action under the Customs Law.
Moreover, the Bago Region Forest Department seized 27.1911 tonnes of illegal woods (estimated at K5,146,726) in the forest reserves of Bago, Toungoo and Pyay districts, and took actions under the Forest Law.
There were 13 arrests (estimated at K28,650,726) on 22, 23 and 24 January, according to the committee. — MNA
