Nampanga small-scale hydropower project 56% completed

According to the Sagaing Region government, the Nampanga small-scale hydropower project, capable of generating 34.68 million kWh of electricity annually, is currently 56 per cent complete.
Situated on the Nampanga Creek near Nathakyaik village in Homalin Township, Sagaing Region, the project involves the construction of a concrete gravity dam. The embankment of the dam’s dimensions are expected to be 473 feet in length and 114.8 feet in height. It will have a maximum water level of 80.38 feet, with an estimated annual water influx of 110,000 acre-feet.
Scheduled for completion in the 2024-2025 financial year, the dam, once operational, will provide electricity to villages and MSME businesses in Homalin Township. — ASH/MKKS
