Union Tourism Minister attends Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Symposium 2022

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC Symposium 2022) organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand is being held on 25 and 26 January and Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung attended the videoconference yesterday.
The meeting was attended by APEC members, international tourism experts, policymakers and private tourism representatives.
The meeting focused on current developments in tourism development between tourism officials and senior policymakers. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ways to revitalize tourism in the future and make recommendations on tourism policies.
Minister of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand Mr Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn gave an opening speech during the meeting.
International tourism experts discussed the best practices for tourism policy and recommendations for better tourism policy.
In addition, necessary arrangements for tourism transformation include policymaking, setting goals for the future of tourism and responsible tourism policies. An overview of tourism promotion issues was also made.
The first part of the meeting ended in the afternoon. The second part of the talks will resume on the afternoon of 26 January.
The meeting was attended by the Union Minister and officials from the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism. Measuring the success of policies as per the differences in resources and capabilities plus the development of countries were also discussed.
As the effects of the COVID-19 epidemic have brought more emphasis on the sustainability of tourism and related industries, governments need to develop better policies and plans for sustainable tourism, officials said.
Discussions focused on issues such as the cure for the effects of the epidemic on shared businesses. — MNA
