Illegal timber, foodstuffs, cat food, vehicles, auto parts, motorcycles seized

The Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee focuses on strict control of illegal trade by the law.
On 4 March, the combined inspection team led by the secretary of Yangon Region anti-illegal task force conducted a surprise check at the Minlwingon checkpoint of Hlegu Township of Yangon North District. They seized 10 unregistered motorcycles worth K26,300,000 and one vehicle worth K15,000,000 that carried these motorcycles. They also confiscated undocumented K15,285,600 worth of foodstuffs and two vehicles worth K18,000,000 that carried the foodstuffs. The officials took action under the Customs Law.
On 6 March, the Customs Department of Mayanchaung checkpoint of Mon State seized K2,094,000 worth of illegal foodstuffs from the vehicles from Myawady to Yangon. They took action in line with the Customs Law.
Similarly, the Bago Region Customs Department conducted surprise checks along the Myawady-Yangon Road section and seized K41,138,000 worth of undocumented cat food and tires and K105,000,000 worth of three vehicles that carried these products at about milepost (63) between Waw and Shwethanlwin Tollgate. They took action under the Customs Law.
Moreover, the Customs Department of the 16th-Mile Kyaukchaw checkpoint of Mandalay Region also confiscated illegal China-made e-cigarette worth K4,960,000 at 16th-Mile Kyaukchaw checkpoint yesterday and took action under the Customs Law.
The Sagaing Region inspection team seized 0.4248 tonne of illegal timbers worth K127,440 at Indaw Township of Katha District and took action under the Forest Law.
Thus, a total of 15 arrests (estimated value of K227,635,040) were made on 4, 6, and 7 March, according to the committee. — MNA
