Confiscations of illegal items: Timbers, fuel oil, foodstuffs, industrial materials and vehicles

The on-duty team under the Magway Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force confiscated illegal goods in various locations over several days.
On 15 March, the team seized illegal timbers weighing 4.690 tonnes valued at K124,650 in Kanma township and 15 gallons of illegal petrol worth K165,000 in Ngaphe township. This enforcement was carried out under the Forest Law and the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law.
Subsequent inspections on 16, 17, and 18 March led to further confiscations. A Mitsubishi Fuso truck and a Hyundai bus, estimated to be worth K60 million, were intercepted carrying goods worth K14.32 million, including 28 bottles of Motul engine oil without official documents. Additionally, illegal hardwood weighing 1.685 tonnes and illegal timbers weighing 5.224 tonnes, valued at K645,264, were seized in Toungoo district. These actions were conducted under Customs procedures and the Forest Law.
Further seizures on 16 and 18 March included goods and medications valued at K109.715 million, such as 12,000 boxes of Vita milk soymilk and 19,535 boxes of Lactasoy soy milk without official documents. Unregistered vehicles were also confiscated in various townships. These actions were taken under Customs procedures and the Export and Import Law.
During inspections on 17 and 18 March, the combined teams seized various goods worth K246.028 million, including 220 bags of seafood without official documents, at the Yadanabon bridge combined checkpoint in Sagaing township. Additionally, in Kanbalu township, goods valued at K8.514 million, including 20 cartons of ABC beer (small cans) and illegal timbers weighing 0.489 tonnes worth K244,700, were seized. These actions were taken under the Export and Import Law, the Myanmar Liquor Law, and the Forest Law. The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported 25 arrests over the four consecutive days from 15 to 18 March, with an estimated value of K447.756 million. — MNA/MKKS
