Illegal timbers, textiles, unregistered sports car, vehicles seized

Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, action is being taken against illegal trades across the country.
On 6 March, combined inspection teams led by the Rakhine State Department of Forest conducted inspections and seized 3.8332 tonnes of illegal timbers (estimated value of K268,324) in An Township, Kyaukpyu District, and action is taken under the Forest Law.
On 8 March, the customs team on duty at the Myanmar Industrial Port Container Inspection Station seized ingredients used in traditional medicines (estimated at K66,000,000) which were in excess of the declared amount, and action is taken under the Customs Law.
During the inspection on the vehicles left for Yangon from Myawady at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint, in Mon State, undocumented textiles (estimated at K2,310,000) and a motorcycle carburetor (estimated at K2,640,000) were seized under the Customs Law.
An unregistered Lamborghini (sports car) (estimated value of K400,000,000) and the vehicle (estimated at K15,000,000) which carried the sports car were confiscated at the Yepu Permanent Checkpoint in Shan State, and action is taken under the Customs Law.
In Yekyi Township, Thaboung Township, and Myanaung Township in Ayeyawady Region, 61.842 tonnes of illegal timber (estimated value of K4,328,933) were confiscated under the Forest Law.
On 9 March, a truck carrying 7.7332 tonnes of illegal timber (total estimated value of K31,546,640) was seized near the milepost (8/0) on the Yangon-Mandalay expressway, Hlegu Township, Yangon.
Similarly, in Bago Region, 15.5780 tonnes of illegal timber (estimated at K1,122,130) were confiscated from the forest reserves in Bago District, Toungoo District, and Thayawady District. In Sagaing Region, 4.2720 tonnes of illegal teak (estimated value of K640,800) in Mawlaik township and action is taken under the Forest Law. Therefore, a total of 20 arrests (estimated value of K523,856,827) were made on 6, 8, and 9 March, the Anti-illegal Trade Steering Committee stated. — MNA
