Illegal consumer goods, raw jade and coal confiscated

SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
A combined team led by Myanmar Police Force under the supervision of the Kachin State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force inspected a vehicle near Uruyadana Jade Hill Bridge in Phakant township and captured 845 kilogrammes of illegal raw jade worth K2,745,500 on 9 October. The action was taken under the Myanmar Gemstone Law.
In addition, a combined inspection team under the management of the Nay Pyi Taw Council Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted inspections and confiscated illegal coal bags and firewood worth K536,000 in Tatkon township on 11 October. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint nabbed 120 lady handbags worth K2.4 million without official documents from a vehicle heading from Myawady to Yangon. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Therefore, three arrests (estimated value of K5,681,500) were made on 9 and 11 October, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
