Officials are seen overseeing emergency repairs.

The Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation (YESC) announced that a temporary power outage in some areas of Yangon was the consequence of emergency repairs of compressors in the natural gas pipeline of the Yadana offshore block.
The natural gas pipeline of Yadana offshore was totally shut down at 3 am on 9 January and it caused less power supply into the national grid, according to YESC.
The YESC also declared that emergency load shedding must be carried out part-time during emergency repairs for reduction of power production. As such, arrangements are being made to ensure that there are no shortages in important places, though there will be temporary power failures in some places and townships.—TWA/MKKS
