SAC members, Union ministers offer rice, cooking oil to Buddhist monasteries, Christian Cathedral in Kayah State

Foodstuffs are presented to the Christian church in Kayah State yesterday.

SAC members U Saw Denial, U Sai Lon Seng and U Shwe Kyein, Union Ministers Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and U Saw Tun Aung Myint, Kayah State Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin, Eastern Command Commander Maj-Gen Hla Moe, Deputy Ministers Dr Aung Zeya and Dr Aye Tun and officials provided rice and edible oil to the Buddhist monasteries and Christian churches in Kayah State, yesterday morning.
First, SAC members, Union ministers, the state chief minister, the Eastern Command commander, deputy ministers and officials visited the abbot training school and paid homage to monks and received Five Precepts from Kayah State Sangha Nayaka Committee Chairman Venerable Sayadaw Bhaddanta panncakka and presented donations.
Afterwards, taking the sermon from the principal Sayadaw of the abbot training school, they shared merits gained.
Next, SAC members, Union ministers and officials arrived at the Christ the King Cathedral, where Saw Daniel extended greetings.
Then, rice and oil were donated to the Cathedral by SAC members and Union ministers, and Christian religious leaders and nuns accepted offertories of rice and oil.
A total of 233 bags of rice and 466 visses of oil were donated to 41 monasteries and three nunneries and 64 bags of rice and 129 visses of oil to 45 Cathedrals, churches and nunneries in Kayah State. Amounts of today’s donations totalled K20,825,000.—MNA/ST
