Men’s Football: Myanmar fails to reach final with 0-3 loss to Thailand

Myanmar men’s football team slipped the final game with a shocking 0-3 defeat to the Thai team in the semifinal match of the XXXII SEA Games Men’s Football Event, played at the Olympic National Stadium, Phnom Penh, Cambodia yesterday. Team Myanmar was able to put the best pressure on the Thai team from the kick-off, but they lost due to their weak finish.
Thailand found their opening goal at 37 minutes and the icebreaker was produced by a header from Teerasak.
At the end of the first half, Thailand led Myanmar with a result of 1-0. The second half saw better play from Team Myanmar but Thai players used all their opportunities as goals. James scored the second goal for team Thailand at 85 minutes and Anan made the third at 90+7 minutes. With the victory, the Thai team was able to advance to the Final match.
In the other semifinal match played yesterday, Indonesia beat Viet Nam 3-2 and qualified for the Final game. On 16 May, Indonesia will take on Thailand in the Final match while team Myanmar will play for the bronze medal against Viet Nam. — KZL
