SKYNET Shwe Aunglan Traditional Lethwei Challenge to be held on 3 June

With the aim of promoting Myanmar traditional Lethwei sport to the international level, Sky Net TV channel and Myanma Lethwei Federation will stage the SKYNET Shwe Aunglan Traditional Lethwei Challenge on 3 June. The tourney will feature four weight classes: 57 kg for three minutes of five rounds, 60 kg boxers for three minutes of five rounds, 63.5 kg boxers for three minutes of five rounds, and 67 kg boxers for three minutes of five rounds.
Saw Naing Lin, Saw Mu Htaw Gay, Aung Kyaw Kyaw, Kyauk Khe, Thant Zin, Doe Lay, Kyaw Ye Min, and Hein Tun Aung will compete in the 60 kg fights, while Yan Naing Kyaw, Byat Ga, Mike Mike, Kayin Lay, Tun Win Aung, William, Sein Lone Chaw, and Aung Zaw Hein will fight for the 63.5 kg category.
Kanyaw Khwa, Aung Hein, Aphoe Thway, Htet Naing Aung, Thet Win Aung, Saw Mya Lin, Saw Thar Gi, and Lanmayu will fight in 67 kg events, and Hline Htet Aung, Sit Thway, Aung Htet Hein, and Thway Lin Htet will compete in the 57kg events.
There will be two challenging fights on the final day.
Talented fighters and award winners across Myanmar will compete in the tourney according to their weight classes.
Starting from the quarter-finals, the knockout system will be applied and if the match is not completed by knockout, they will have to compete step by step using the scoring system. The fights will be broadcast live on “SkyNet Sports-4”, “SkyNet Sports-HD”, and “Channel-9 HD”, and ticket prices are set at K5,000, K10,000, and K15,000. The competition is planned to be held every year rather than broadcast as a local programme. The challenge was held in June 2022 when four flag winners emerged. — TWA/KZL
