The State Administration Council granted pardon for 72 prisoners under trial from the Kyaukpyu prison in commemoration of the full moon of the Second Waso and on humanitarian grounds yesterday.
Officials from the Kyaukpyu District Administration Body, Kyaukpyu District Police Force and Kyaukpyu prison delivered speeches to releasees.
The order was announced under Article 419 of the Constitution to close pending criminal cases of 72 members of ethnic armed organizations and related individuals who are still facing trials in various courts in the country and to release the defendants. — Tin Htun Oo, Phyo Wai Lin (IPRD)/KZW
