In an effort to solve the skilled worker shortage in the Republic of Korea, E-9 visa workers can apply for an E-7-4 visa (skilled worker visa) if they have specified marks, as announced by the Myanmar Embassy to the Republic of Korea.
The embassy stated that the visa policy changed on 16 May. The Myanmar Embassy in Seoul attended the 2024 Briefing Session on Visa Policy meeting organized by the Ministry of Justice, Republic of Korea, and it made this decision in order to solve the skilled worker shortage.
Those on E-9, E-10, and H-2 visas who have lived in the Republic of Korea for more than four years in the last ten years and must have at least a two-year employment contract with the current company and have a yearly income above 26 million Korea won can apply for E-7-4 visa.
Those who have at least one year of work experience, receive above 200 marks of Korean Language proficiency along with company recommendations and have no criminal records in Korea can apply.
Due to Korea’s declining birth rate, increasing older people population and workforce decrease, foreigners have been allowed to apply for regional-specialized visas (F-2-R) in 66 suburban towns, and detailed information is available at https://www.hikorea.go.ko/Main.Pt, the embassy said. – MT/ZS/ED
