Laos takes over ASEAN-BAC chairmanship for next term

ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) Chairman Mr M Arsjad Rasjid P M (ASEAN-BAC Indonesia) handed over the chairmanship to Mr Oudet Souvannavong, the president of the Lao National Chambers of Commerce and Industry, on the second day of the ASEAN-BAC Summit 2023 held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on the evening of 4 September.
The participants in the meeting of ASEAN Summit before the handover ceremony discussed the efforts to support the private sector, the importance of ASEAN on the Global economy, the ways to overcome the challenges and difficulties, and the policies to maintain ASEAN-centred and ensure stability.
Additionally, they discussed the cooperation of regional countries to achieve successful implementation in priority sectors, the transformation of digitalization, sustainable development, trade and investment, food security and health insurance.
Afterwards, the speakers exchanged views on the ASEAN Industrial 4.0, the reforms up to date, the ASEAN’s strategic value and the acceleration of public-private cooperation to achieve a sustainable and resilient ASEAN.— TWA/MKKS
