Illegal timbers, industrial materials, foodstuffs, consumer goods, motorbikes and vehicles confiscated

A combined team under the supervision of the Yangon Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force seized a Chenglong tractor head with a trailer (approximately K100 million), headed to Yangon from Myawady, carrying 8,000 kilogrammes of BDPP film worth K20.16 million that was not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) at the Ywathagyi Dry Port on 10 November. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
The combined on-duty teams made inspections on 10 and 11 November and confiscated a total of 0.483 tonne of illegal teak, 0.867 tonne of hardwood and 1.571 tonnes of other wood worth K895,492 in Bago and Pyay districts, a Yutong bus (estimated value of K30 million), headed to Nay Pyi Taw from Thanbyuzayat, carrying three kinds of goods worth K12.519 million, including 516 one-litre bottles of vegetable oil (Two-Shrimp brand) without official documents, a total of 2.822 tonnes of illegal teak worth K1,082,532 in Toungoo and Pyay districts, a Hino truck (approximately worth K25 million), travelling from Myawady to Yangon, carrying three kinds of goods worth K11.508 million, including 3,110 Monstar LED bulbs that were not declared in the ID, near the Shwe Thanlwin Tollgate in Phayagyi and two vehicles, headed from Kyaikto to Yangon and from Dawei to Yangon, carrying four kinds of goods worth K10.552 million, including 1,440 bottles of Kukuru yogurt and 170 bags of charcoal at the Nyaungkhashay x-ray station. The action was taken under the Forest Law and Customs procedures.
On 11 and 12 November, the combined teams captured two unregistered (Koroda and Scoopyi) motorbikes worth K1.5 million in Monywa township, a Nissan Diesel truck (estimated value of K25 million), travelling from Myawady to Yangon, carrying 2,000 kilogrammes of chipboard worth K2.4 million that were not declared in the ID, at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint and a Hino Ranger vehicle (approximately worth K40 million), travelling from Myawady to Mawlamyine, carrying five kinds of goods worth K7.282 million, including 6,000 bags of Yum Yum instant noodles, at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) combined checkpoint. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law and Customs procedures.
A total of 20 arrests were made on three consecutive days from 10 to 12 November, with an estimated value of K342.899 million, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
