The awarding ceremony of the “Hlapa Thaya Pyi Myanmar” (Beautiful and Pleasant Myanmar) colour photo contest marking the 76th Independence Day 2024 was held in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
It was attended by Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo, Deputy Minister for Information U Ye Tint, Nay Pyi Taw Council members, the Permanent Secretary, departmental heads, panel of judges and award winners.
Speaking at the event, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn said the photo competition was organized to expose the essence of independence like development, pleasant and stable condition of the country, unity of ethnic people and traditional cultures, significant signs, regions and persons in the fight for independence. A total of 175 contestants participated in the contest, with 688 entry photos.
He then talked about the objective of holding the photo contest and appreciated the young people for participating in the competition.
He also added that the photos expose creative art and that the people might be proud of their country, independence, and sovereignty through these photos.
Then, Photo Selecting Team Chairman Director Pachi Soe Moe briefed the attendees on the selection process.
The officials then presented awards to the winners of the photo contest.
First prize winner U Win Toe expressed words of thanks on behalf of the recipients.
Afterwards, the Union minister had a documentary photo taken together with relevant officials and winners.
The Union Minister and party then viewed the award-winning photos and displayed photos at the event.
A total of 18 prizes — first, second, and third—and 15 other special awards were presented at the event. — MNA/KTZH
