MoH implements vital measures, including vaccinations, amid surge in Covid-19 cases

During the third week of December 2023, preparations are underway to sustain vaccination coverage due to the increasing number of Covid-19 patients in the country, as reported by the Ministry of Health (MoH).
Between 10 and 17 December, seven new cases of Covid-19 were identified. Subsequently, from 17 to 24 December, an additional 29 confirmed cases of Covid-19 were reported, bringing the total to 36 cases.
Despite the rise in virus detection, there have been no reported deaths due to the virus this week, according to the MoH’s statement on 25 December.
Currently, with the escalating number of Covid-19 strain JN.1 infection in some countries in the region and other parts of the world, Union Minister Dr Thet Khaing Win emphasized in a coordination meeting on 22 December that the Ministry of Health should take necessary measures to sustain Covid vaccine coverage.
From 23 March 2020, to 24 December 2023, Myanmar reported a total of 641,422 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 620,159 recoveries and 19,494 deaths, according to the statistics provided by the Ministry of Health. — TWA/TKO
