Youth Chess Championship held in Yangon

The Myanmar National Agewise Chess Championship, organized by the Myanmar Chess Federation, was held at KBTC Private Smart School in Yangon at 2 pm on 21 January 2024.
An awarding ceremony was held after the championship, and officials presented awards to the youth winners aged between 8 and 20.
“This tournament is held once a year and selects young elite players. The tournament is the highest. The first-placed players will be sent to compete in international tournaments. The second and third-placed will be kept as a reserve,” said IM Win Zaw Tun from Master Brain Chess Academy, who is in charge of organizing the tournament.
The tourney was run from 18 to 21 January, and youth chess players from Yangon Region and students from KBTC Private Smart School, totalling 100, participated in it. According to this term, the Youth Chess Agewise Championship will be held in Mandalay Region in March. — Bala Soe/KZL
