The Myanmar Embassy to Thailand announced that about 36,000 Myanmar migrant workers have paid taxes, with some 1,000 people on average coming to the embassy for paying tax daily, said the embassy.
The embassy issues receipts promptly on the same day. A total of 35,919 migrant workers fulfilled their tax obligations between 13 December 2023 and 8 February 2024. The workers can pay taxes during the office hours at the embassy.
Taxpayers should keep their receipts carefully as they can utilize them to claim tax deductions from the township-level Internal Revenue Department when purchasing property and vehicles.
Factory workers can send a representative under the management of their factory owner to pay taxes, too.
The representative must provide the name of the passport, gender, passport number, date of birth, and dates of passport issue and expiration. Taxpayers are advised to bring their tax receipts when visiting the embassy in Bangkok or the consulate-general in Chiang Mai. — MT/TWA/ZN/NT/ED
