Travellers to Saleaintan Beach near Yangon surge on weekends, holidays

Day and night trips to the recently famous Saleaintan Beach in Kungyangon near Yangon are on the increase during weekends and long holidays, according to the locals.
“As this is the dry season, there are regular visitors. More people come to the beach on weekends and religious holidays. Those who don’t like crowded places and families come to the beach during the week. During the holidays, the restaurants sell more due to more visitors. You can see the rising tide on the beach on full moon days and no moon days,” said a food vendor.
Some people come for day trips, while others stay overnight in the bungalows near the beach.
“Some go on day trips while others stay quietly in the bungalows near the beach for the night. Accommodation costs around tens of thousands of kyats,” said a local. As it is the beach nearest to Yangon, many people visit Saleaintan Beach in Saleaintan village by car. — MT/ZN/ED
