The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation has announced plans to cultivate oil crops (peanut, sesame, and sunflower) in specific zones during the 2024-2025 financial year to ensure an adequate supply of edible oil.
Furthermore, special high-yield zones for edible oil will be established in Upper Myanmar regions, with designated zone managers appointed to oversee operations. These zone managers will be responsible for providing seeds and other necessary inputs, educating growers to achieve target yield, facilitating loans from the State economic promotion fund, and developing markets for the produced oil crops in collaboration with regional and state-level organizations.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation aims to enhance edible oil crop yields and meet domestic oil consumption requirements, commencing from the 2025–2026 financial year. — ASH/MKKS
