MEXT 2025 undergraduate scholarship registration starts 23 April

Registration for the Undergraduate Students Scholarship Programme 2025 offered by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) will begin on 23 April, and applications will be accepted from 6 May, according to the Myanmar Association of Japan Alumni (MAJA).
The required educational qualifications are 450 marks and above in the matriculation examination or 60 per cent and above in internationally recognized examinations such as International (A) Level, iGCSE, GCE (A) Level for Undergraduate Student Programme, and 420 marks and above in the matriculation examination or 50 per cent and above in internationally recognized examinations such as EJU, Cambridge International (A) Level, iGCSE, GCE (A) Level for College of Technology Training Student Programme and Specialized Training College Students Programme.
Only those currently residing in Myanmar are eligible, while the registration via Google forms can be done from 23 April to 4 pm on 7 May, and application submission from 6 May to 4 pm on 11 May. Unless a Google form is submitted within the prescribed period, the application submission will not be accepted, according to MEXT guidelines.
Educational certificates must be sent to the MAJA office in person, by proxy or via post/express delivery by 4 pm on 11 May, together with the NEXT prescribed application form.
Regarding academic transcripts for all school and university years, if the applicant has completed matriculation or is a first-year university student, they need to submit a copy of matriculation examination marks. If the applicant is a second year or above, they must submit a copy of matriculation examination marks as well as those of each university year. Regarding the certificate of graduation of school, those who have passed international examinations must submit their marks in the respective examination.
After registering via Google Form from 23 April to 7 May, the applicant will have to attach and submit a printed copy of the screenshot of the automatic response email they received. The list of candidates with complete documents eligible to take the test on 18 May will be announced on 15 May, and the Japanese Embassy in Myanmar will proceed with the final selection of successful candidates. — MT/ZN/Ed
