According to Safe Migration, about 500 agencies emailed the list of workers sent in January, following the new directive.
It has instructed overseas employment agencies to send the country-by-country monthly summary of workers sent abroad via email to the headquarters instead of sending it in person or by post from 1 January 2024.
Following this new instruction, 491 agencies sent the summary for January. They were requested to verify the lists and those agencies with a red mark were advised to return the list on or before 9 February 2024 because their emails didn’t contain Excel attachments.
Moreover, 56 agencies failed to send the January summary and they were also reminded to comply by the above deadline.
Agencies that have been warned three times for failing to send the summary must sign the acknowledgement letter if they fail again, and if they continue to fail, their license will be revoked for a period of time, Safe Migration warned in November 2023.
