Action to be taken against unlicensed private health businesses

During a meeting with heads of offices of township medical services department in Yangon on 17 February, Dr Myat Wunna Soe, the Secretary of the Central Committee for Private Healthcare Services and Director-General of the Department of Medical Services, stated that private healthcare services without proper licences will face legal action.
He emphasized that township officers of Medical Services Department must ensure that no healthcare services operate without licences in their respective townships. They should facilitate the application process for licences if needed and take appropriate action against non-compliance with regulations. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of delivering quality healthcare services at reasonable costs.
As secretaries of the township healthcare services supervisory committees, the heads of township medical services department have the authority to approve business licences, oversee licence renewal, conduct periodic field inspections, and ensure health businesses adhere to the conditions outlined in their licences. — TWA/TKO
