Arson attackers sentenced to 20 years’ jail with labour

The military tribunal sentenced the protestors from Shwepyitha township — Than Win, Ye Myint Kyaw(aka) Ko Ye and Saw Tun Naing (aka) Mae Gyi to 20 years in jail with labour for making arson attack on No (13) Ward administration office on 23 March under Section 436 of the Penal Code on 30 March.
As the fire broke out at the garment factories, basic education high schools and administrative offices in Hlinethaya, Shwepyitha, Dagon Myothit (North), Dagon Myothit (South), Dagon Myothit (Seikkan) and North Okkalapa townships in Yangon Region and rioters managed to prevent the fire engines from fighting the fires. These places were put under Martial Law on 14 and 15 March. It has already announced 23 types of crimes to be heard by the military tribunal in these areas. So severe actions would be taken against those who would commit any of these crimes.—MNA
