ASEAN cooperation workshop emphasizes science and technology capacity building in Myanmar and Viet Nam

Workshop on the Development of the Capacity Building Action Plan for Undergraduate programme of Technological Universities in Myanmar and Viet Nam in progress in Mandalay yesterday.

Mandalay Technological University oversaw the project titled “Enhancing Capacity Building in Science and Technology through Close Collaboration between Mandalay Technological University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology”, funded by the ASEAN Cooperation Fund (ASEAN India Fund). As part of this initiative, a workshop aimed at improving undergraduate courses in technological universities in Myanmar and Viet Nam was held yesterday morning at the Mingala Mandalay Hotel in Mandalay.
Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, the Chief Minister of Mandalay Region, representatives from the Consulate General of India in Mandalay, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, officials and associate officers from the Initiative for ASEAN Integration and Narrowing Development Gap (IAI & NDG) of the ASEAN Secretariat, as well as Vice Presidents, Vice Deans, young scientists, teachers, and students from Dalak University and Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Technology in Viet Nam, and teachers and students from Yangon Technological University, Mandalay Technological University, and Kyaukse Technological University attended the workshop.
In his speech, the Union Minister said that the ASEAN Cooperation Project could enhance the educational infrastructure and activities of both countries and facilitate the planning of projects to develop undergraduate programmes in technological universities in Myanmar and Viet Nam through discussions, assessments, and sharing of experiences. He highlighted the potential of leveraging the transformative power of science and technology to nurture the youth and create a better ASEAN community.
In the afternoon session, the workshop continued with clarification on measures by the Pro-Rector of Mandalay Technological University and Vice Director Dr By Vu Anh Quang of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. Project Manager Dr Wunna Swe submitted the information about the project.
Dr Vu Anh Quang presented a quality assessment report for undergraduate courses at universities in Viet Nam. Additionally, faculty members from technological universities in Myanmar discussed the results of their analyses in the areas of Desk Survey and Staff Student HR Research, based on data collected from technological universities to enhance the quality of undergraduate courses.
Moreover, faculty members from Myanmar and Viet Nam, along with young professionals and students, engaged in discussions on their learning needs. The workshop lasts till 4 March. — MNA/TRKM
